Re: Hotpoint washing, and washing, and washing….

    Thanks for the replies.
Yes it’s programmed for this machine (as far as I know!). It was double checked too as I sent it back for the company to confirm it was working.
The heater and wires were ok when I put it back together and tested them. I’m planning on checking it out again to see if there is anything obvious happening.
I was hoping there was a simple reset sequence I could try but I can’t find anything on it.

    Many thanks for your reply.
By plug and play do you mean the one from EMW will work without being programmed?

    Re: Hotpoint WD420 problems…

Jim, what do you mean by ‘triac’?

Looks like it might have to be a callout 🙁
Everything seems to check out ok, apart from the motor not spinning up!
Can’t quite understand why this happened when I was only checking out the dryer not working, and that was just the cut-out thingy (and a build up of fluff around the element!).
I still have some hair left, so I’ll continue pulling that out until I run out of options 🙂

    Re: Hotpoint WD420 problems…

    It’s only me again!
Checked the connection on the gizmo you suggested and it was loose. Powered up the machine and now have a different error code!
The power light is flashing (fast) and light number 4 (Time Saver) is flashing.
Any idea what this error is?
Forgot to mention, every time the machine is powered on the dryer fan powers up! Runs for a minute or two then stops. Very strange. It does this no matter what setting is on the front of the machine.

Is it time for me to get a really big hammer out? 🙂

    Re: Hotpoint WD420 problems…

Looking at the pictures I think its a cut-out switch number: 1605160

    Re: Hotpoint WD420 problems…

Oh, one last thing (hopefully!). Do you have a part number for the ntc thingy and also the thermostat (assuming the other part is a thermostat rather than a thermal cut-out or similar!)?

    Re: Hotpoint WD420 problems…

    Brilliant, I’ll check that tomorrow.
Could the ntc device fail and is it replaceable? (And what does ntc stand for?)

Thank you very much for the advice.

    Re: Hotpoint WD420 problems…

    Wow, quick response. Thank you.

From top to bottom they are 1, 2 & 4.
In case you need them, the lights refer to:
    (1=Drying high heat)
    (2=Reduce creases)
    (4=Time saver)
