I was so happy. After stabbing the button several times I got into the routine that you described and that seemed to do the trick – from the outside.

The dishwasher went through all of the motions – a proper cycle in terms of duration and all the right noises too. But when I opened the door – nothing had happened. I don’t think any water got in or out during the cycle. I did rinse and a full programme.

Now the two lights on the right (4 & 5) are constant until I press a button.

The soap dispenser didn’t open – I don’t know if that’s significant, but there you go.
