Re: Samsung S2028CSS american fridge symptom

I have managed to get the front control panel off, and I have found some more info. The surround had water in it, bottom right only a bit
The plug into the pcb was full of water, when i unplugged it, and there is mould around that area so it has been building up for a while, where the bunch of cables come down through the top right of the compartment, they have a spongy type material around them thats mouldy, and that is dripping wet so something could poss? be leaking through there.
    any ideas?
I think the pins inside the socket on the pcb look ok, some are starting to rust but work when I re fit it all dry with a quick clean with wd40

a long shot, but there is a button located under the the fascia near the water pipe section called “anti sweat heater switch” I have had the machine years and only now have i seen this, it was off, would that be the reason — sweat/condensation, is that what the heater is for? I have switched it on see what happens?
couldnt edit this post so here I am
    cheers again

Thanks Bryan, i have emailed you as requested
While i am on, i was greeted this morning by water all over the floor, freezer thawing ice maker pouring, and no noise from any fans or compressor, so after cleaning up, i switched off at the mains, then switched back on, and its working ok again now, but i dont know for how long???

Re: hotpoint wd62 drum wont rotate and programmer just ticks

    Right,
since last night the wife has finally won the battle, and i am sick of taking the kitchen to bits every time i need the machine out, so we have decided 10 years is enough of being on daily with kids etc, so its being recycled, and we are buying another one.
thanks for your help on here so far though, its been really good, so until i need you again, best wishes,

Re: HOTPOINT WD62 DRYER SEEMS TO STEAM RATHER THAN DRY!!

    Right then- sorted at last!
the element was fine, there was a wire broken where it goes from one element to the other, which eas lined up with the terminal, but had cables across the top of it hiding the fact it was broken, so the heat is sorted, and the condenser was blocked, as i removed it, to find it was full at the top coming out of the heater, and around the impeller also, the fins were caked full so it is back together now and working like new! well chuffed saved a bomb and the planet again
    cheers everyone again

Re: HOTPOINT WD62 DRYER SEEMS TO STEAM RATHER THAN DRY!!

sorry just read your suggestion again about the cold water flush so ignore that bit please lol!
i have left it running as one person said, and the water flush keeps going.
as for blocked condensor, i can see a dark build up at the very top round section of the condensor, only above where the flush enters it, and when i shine a torch up against it, there is defo some fluff in there, but i now think i might have a heating element problem as it was running for 25 mins on the hot setting, and the glass was only warm on the door, so i unplugged it and touched the 4 elements that stick out of the top right, and only the second from the front felt hot, but not too hot to leave my finger on, the others are only warm, but what makes no sense is my wife insists that the clothes did come out hot!
the top of the condensor where it exits the drum, only got warm in that time, so am i going in the right direction here please?
any help much appreciated, along with a suggestion of part/s needed etc
    cheers again in advance

Re: hotpoint WD62 WATER LEAK PROBLEM

    jim,
just thought i would mention that, after fixing the door seal, i still had a small leak, which i found to be the very bottom metal clip that holds the two parts of the drum together had flipped off and was sat in the frame at the botton, so i split the drum, cleaned the seal and re housed it properly and all is now fine, apart from there seems to be a lot of movement when the machine is on slow spin, the motor bangs the side of the cabinet etc, there are two springs on the top and two shocks underneath.
    cheers

Re: hotpoint WD62 WATER LEAK PROBLEM

just to let you know, your advice was spot- on, i inspected the door seal and right at the top is a split about long, so i will change that.
thanks very much for your speedy and accurate response
    cheers
