ParticipantRe: AEG intergrated Freezer Arctis G 9 18 50-4i
Hi
This must be a common problem with this model, for some reason although it is a frost free freezer, this only applies to the inner cabinet and drawers etc., the works behind the top grill you speak about does frost up completely and stops the freezer working and you get the resulting temperature rise.
The only way to solve the problem is to completely defrost this part of the freezer, several ways you can do this, buy cans of freezer defrosting fluid, use a hair dryer – (this took me about 1 hour) which is what I did or do what the freezer man said to me is put the whole freezer into the garden for 5 days and let it defrost naturally, this is ok if there is no food in at the time. The only problem with the first two ideas is about 2-3 pints of water are discharged into the water tray above the motor which is insuffient to take this amount, I was fortunate at the time I had this frost-up problem happen to me the freezer was not in its outer cabinet so I just pulled the pipe the water runs out of into the evaporation tray and put it into a bucket.
I believe there must be a problem with this model of freezer as why is there an evaporation tray above the motor to catch defrosting water if it never gets to defrost in the first place. I have tried to get this problem solved with the manufacturer but have never had an answer from them.
