botched in a match to press it. Will do until we replace the unit.

Thanks for the diagnostic, but I’m not sure it is the motor bearings. The motor was dead quiet before I changed the brushes… (just wasn’t very powerful!)
If I power the machine down, and reach inside and root around/wiggle the brushes, then fire up, I can stop the noise – so it’s definitely only intermittent.
Could I have fitted the brushes backwards or something – or perhaps the shaft of the motor is pitted? (or some foreign matter is trapped in there)
The sound is not really a squeal, it’s more of a scratching/squeeking..? Sorry, impossible to describe this over the ‘net I know!
Cheers

ParticipantRe: Beko freezer in garage – not cold??!?
Thanks all. Have ordered a new frost-free upright freezer (freezer only) for the garage.
Cheers

ps) Now what do I do with my Beko fridge/freezer, as it would appear even the fridge part is of little use outdoors!

Ah, I think I understand.
So, I need to replace my combined unit with a stand-alone freezer, and all will be OK.
I think I need to consider a stand-alone fridge too (or carry on using the fridge part of my current unit). I assume there is no problem with the fridge part? It’s just the combination/dependency that’s the issue, right?

Damn!
Is there any fridge/freezer that will work?
Or, is it possible to get a freezer-only that will work in a garage? Any suggestions?

ParticipantPossible……
Should say this…. Of course this is probably only one of the possible solutions to an E2 error. God knows what an E2 really is, given that the manual for my model says “E2 – NOT USED ON THIS APPLIANCE”
Ha.

Sorry, should have said right hand side (when looking at unit from the front).
