Unfortunately, I purchsed the machine over the internet, and it was delivered straight from the Hotpoint Distribution warehouse, so I doubt a high street retailer will be interested in helping me out.

I have called the Hotpoint Information Helpdesk. The lady I spoke to (after consulting with her colleagues) stated that the noise was ‘probably OK’.

If anyone else has the same model, can you plese let me know if the whine is normal (or not).

I would like to resolve this issue quite quickly, as the supplier will accept returns for ‘replacement as new’ or refund within 28 days. I would prefer to go through this route rather than waiting for a breakdown and having to accept a repair.
