When a programme is started everything appears to function normally, but as soon as the motor starts the leds flicker followed by the F11. Does this mean the pcb is OK?

Clive, thanks for all your help, I’ll try your suggestion. What a cracking forum this is.

Thanks for the suggestion Clive. Not sure that Whirlpool will sort this problem out on a machine that’s well out of guarantee though.

Thanks Clive for a super fast reply.

Is there any way of easily determining if the electronics are faulty? I ask this because the cost of a replacement motor might be high and if replaced _and_ the fault persists a new control board might also be needed making the total cost uneconomical.

Do you know if UKWhitegoods would be able to supply a replacement motor?

Re: F11 fault code on a Whirlpool

    Hello

    I have a Whirlpool AWM8163 washing machine that’s about 5 years old.

In June last year the machine displayed error code F07 which, through browsing this forum, I was able to correct by replacing the brushes and all was well.

Now the machine is displaying error code F11 in all programs except ‘drain’. Immediately preceeding the display of F11 all the leds flicker unusually. The drum rotates prior to the error code but is accompanied by an unusual clicking noise. I removed the motor and rotated the shaft by hand and the clicking was still present. With the brushes removed there is no clicking. The brush assembly looks OK and the commutator shows no unusual marking. Rotating the shaft with my finger on the commutator one of the copper segment contacts seems to be raised. I changed the brushes, refitted the motor, and still get F11.

Could the problem be with the motor only or might there be another cause?

    Pete
