ParticipantRe: Hoover AL130 Timer
I took the synchronous motor off the timer unit when getting the drum out. Now the baby turned the knob during the work so I put it back to where I thought it should be and re attached the synch motor to the timer unit. Does this matter or will the program knob be dialing in a different program?

Silence is golden! Well that went well. Now tested and at full spin speed the most noise is the pump running. Very pleased. New bearings and seal £19 delivered from UK WG. Cool. Many thanks to all that helped with this one, I wasn’t confident but re assembly was easy. Bearing shafts and sockets cleaned up well.
Thanks to every one who helped. (it sounds more like a jet taking off as it gathers speed). Now thinking of a re spary (pistachio green), led’s and cold cathode lighting. As the drum is translucent CCT should shine through.ratdogfink

When I took the lower weight off, the weight has large metal washers at the fixing points. One of these was off the fixing post and crshed between the weight and the drum, bent to about 90 degrees. It was never in place since the machine was new. Can I run without it? There is some wear on the drum fixing post!

Seal and bearing. I drilled two small holes in the seal and screwed in two self tapping screws and used a claw hammer to prise the seal out. The bearing behind is well shot. Bearing and seal now out.

Yes, it gripped but the drum went in not bearing out so I stopped. Three questions
1. Should I remove the top weight?
2. Remove motor?
3. Door seal comes out with drum or leave it on machine.
Apart from that there are loads of hoses and wires all over the place now, it seems to be alive, I’m sure I can hear it breathing!!ratdogfink

Blocked filter??
Where is the filter and where is the timer? Can you re send the link to the timer? My wife it seems has deleted all my emails today bar 1 (UKW invoice for the bearings). Is there any drawings of the machine? I have started getting the drum out and have the spider off the back. Now I have a bearing puller where you take the cheek off the bearing, mangle out 1 ball and insert the bearing puller between races, is there and chance of extracting the bearings with the drum still in? I’m going back to it any help will help!!ratdogfink

The bearing and seal kit was one you helped me with a few weeks ago. (Thanks for the info). I have just got round to ordering them. So when I told the wife I had ordered the bearings at last she said it was doing other strange things. So the bearings are being changed due to the excessive noise. They need doing. The anoying thing is that I could have orderd both. But if I do the seals and still have a machine after that I can change the timer. Should be a straight swop out?

Well the machine only reaches an end of program on one or two programs. On the others it seems that it never reaches the end and can stop at any time. Often on the spin cycle or sometimes the cloths are still wet. The program control dial just clicks round sometimes and back to where it was. One program is fine the others a bit hit and miss. I just ordered a bearing and seal kit from UKWG!

ParticipantRe: Hoover AL130 drum bearings
Thanks Penguin.
The bearings in the photo accually look like quality bearings, the Z meaning metal bearing covers. With the seal not a bad price either. So I take it that I take out the whole drum and split it to get at the seal. One bearing in the spider and one in the drum tank supporting the drum. Does the drum and tank come out of the top and is there any where I can get at a parts drawing or help on how to remove the drum and tank?
