I don’t think the machine makes a noise like the machine with worn bearings in the vid makes when it span, nor is there movement of the drum with regards to the seal.

I’m having an issue getting the belt back on (as I did previously after replacing the brushes.

I try to line up the belt as far back on the black thing (towards the machine rather than towards me) then put the half of the belt on the pulley as I rotate it. Then I screw in the bolts holding the motor (the original video posted said this was because the motor moves it’s position so you half attach the belt then screw) then rotate the pulley further until the belt goes on. This method worked eventually the first time, but then as well as now, the belt keeps moving towards me, i.e. off the black spindle, when I try to put on the remaining bit of the belt.

Whereabouts should the belt be on the spindle? When I refitted the belt previously, it was close to me, and as said earlier, there was a slight overhang of the belt on the pulley towards my side, which probably caused the belt to come off.

Why does it keep moving off the black spindle when I try to attatch it/rotate the pulley?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your help so far. After the parts came, I replaced the brushes and the machine was working again. However, one thing I did notice was that at high spins the machine sounded a little louder (Maybe I’m just noticing more now). Last night, I’m pretty sure the belt came off as the drum won’t spin but you can hear the motor – I’m going to check later today.

I had difficulty putting the belt back on after changing the brushes. I put the motor in place but didn’t screw the bolts, then attached the belt to the motor, screwed the bolts in, then put the belt on the rest of the pulley as in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H6EDqujxDU . (It wouldn’t fit if I screwed the motor bolts in first – the belt would just lop off the black thing with grooves on the motor).

Also what I found was the edge of the belt would almost slip towards my side (as opposed to the washer side) on the pulley. Like there is a slight overhang of the belt on the pulley rather than being in the middle. The belt has grooves in it from the previous 5 years of spinning. I’d try to push the belt in the middle, but when I spun the pulley with my hand the belt would move slightly to have a small overhang and be stable there. I put everything back together and the washing machine has worked well for the past 2 days (other than my observation that at high spins it seemed a little louder) but then the belt came off last night.

Do you have any ideas on how to solve this? I’m going to put on the belt again but if it comes off again, clearly there’s a deeper issue?

A) position of screws and small lugs that locate brush
B) the angle of the end of the carbon brush

they give PA66 and also the gen hotpoint number C00196539 which is the same as the link I posted above

Also, a lot of the brushes say they are for the PA66 which I assume refers to the motor?

How can I tell if mine is the PA66?

o I did some research and the machine itself, which I bought from Currys 5 years ago is a retail special model. After ringing Currys, they can’t identify the particular part but this is the motor: https://www.buyspares.co.uk/motor-01-14 … =3378481BS

Would either work, as they are both Samsung brushes apparently.

I found an Amazon link where a guy reviewed it saying they fit his WF1804 Samsung machine – which is the first 6 digits of my model.

On the last pic you can see the difference between the two: the longer one has a shiny end, whereas the shorter one is black.

Judging from the wear do you think the problem will disappear by replacing the brushes? I don’t know what else to check for with the motor other than cleaning the comutator as in the video.

In terms of replacement, could you point me in the right direction? Here are the codes on the sides of the brushes:
