    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    When power is applied, the motor turns the diverter without any problem, so can’t see that this is the root cause of the trouble. There is no sign of water damage / corrosion.

    I have asked Bosch for more information on this part and its control mechanism, but their response is that they don’t offer technical support !! :hmm:

    Great customer relations – good luck Bosch!! :con:

    I’ve put the machine back together, and its working as before (But at least now I’m an expert on dismantling / rebuilding Bosch dishwashers!!)

    BUT, I still have the issue with the diverter not switching properly. :rolls:

    Does anone know the ins and outs of this part of the system – what controls it, and how I can check that the control is working ok?

    Thanks

    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    Its been a fun day 😆

    One Bosch washing machine is now a pile of bits……..At least I can move it around the house more easily… :rolling:

    This is the part thats causing all the grief;

    And this is it with the motor opened;

    There is no sign of water ingress, so not obvious why the diverter was not moving.

    I want to check the motor, I see that its 230v, can anyone tell me the purpose of the three connectors – I expected two?

    The two connectors shown in the top photo are not connected – the three in the bottom photo are connected to a red, double white, and grey/black;

    Thanks

    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    Ok, I understand its around a 2.5 – 3 hour job and thats if you know the machine…so lots of dosh…the part itself is £80.

    Bosch themselves advise not bothering with the repair…

    So, since I reason that the machine is so close to landfill now, and I have plenty of time now, I’m prepared to dive in and have a go myself….

    You guys have been most helpful so far, so one last favour please?… 😀

    Can anyone offer any useful pointers on how to get the old part out, without me just taking apart every screw on the machine, and any tips on putting in the replacement? :study:

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    Yes iadom, I agree the machine is quite clean, and it does seems a shame to bin it.

    I’m reasonably handy, so could give it a go – with a little help!

    How do I get in to locate the part? :hmm:

    Better have a read of THIS.

    Thanks, I had already seen that, which first pointed me to the heater/diverter!

    But since that fix only lasted three months, the questions are:

    Was that the real problem?; is it worth trying to fix it myself?; or should I look for another machine?

    Seems a shame to bin the machine in landfill, since it seems in such good order aside from the spray arm not working!

    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    spimps: unfortunately this pipe is absolutely clear – no blockages at all. And there is no shortage of water in the tub either – very good spray from the one arm thats working!

    Today the DW had been run about five times without soap and those times only the bottom arm was turning. Yet just recently, when the top arm started rotating (and not the bottom 😥 ), the DW was full of soap suds – despite me earlier removing the upper arm assembly with the internal feed-pipe and thoroughly washing / rinsing it through…

    Clearly soap was hiding somewhere….

    I’m wondering whether the soap had blocked something, and I’m not sure where to check? :hmm:

    Goatboy: Is this diverter accessible in anyway so that I can check for blockages?

    Martin: that was my fear yesterday – I am still hoping for something simpler! :rolls:

    Thanks for all your help – much appreciated

    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    Hi chaps,
    The heater works OK, and the motor maintains constant speed.

    But, it appears that only one sprayer moves (usually the bottom one).
    Though just now when I tried it, the top sprayer moved, but not the bottom one 😕

    Hopefully, if I’ve got the links right, these are pictures of the Matrix (and the Oracle 😉 )
    (notice the plug in the picture – just for you Goatboy! )

    Goatboy: Which pipe is the main feed to the DW from the Matrix – is it the second from the left in pictures?

    iadom: Where is the diverter valve / control?

    And why aren’t you guys watching the Rugby? 🙂

    Re: Bosch SHV43a – repair or replace?

    OK, so after a good morning of cleaning the internal pipe work and various bits (although they were mostly clear, I’ve certainly learnt something about how it works!), I have re-tried the machine several times and this is what I’ve found:-

    The filling is fine – continuous water flow, and the circulating pump seems to be running ok, but I have noticed that during a cycle only one of the spray arms appears to rotate (usually the bottom one).

    Can anyone tell me how frequently the spray arms should alternate and rotate?

    Thanks

    Hi iadom,

    I wasn’t expect a reply so soon – don’t you sleep? 😆

    I’ve read through the links – and I guess thats my Sunday sorted!

    Thanks :waving:
