Thank you everyone for all the information . I have (temporarily?) fixed the fault by scratching my head and pulling various wiring connections apart, putting them together after testing and blowing vigorously into the motor unit. Basically exactly what you do when youre pretending that you know what you’re doing when the wifes asking “Is it fixed yet!”.
How long it will last I’ve no idea, so I ordered an extra, bigger washing machine just to make sure. Thanks againReubenw

If I manage to fix it, my next problem will be how to squeeze into the drum, close the door but still operate the switches.
Tested the element, continuity fine, no earth either. I have found the flux capacitor…erm I mean tachometric dynamo… output wires and tested the output at the 7 pin connector. Voltage varies slightly if i spin the motor by hand, would this suggest the motor assembly is OK with relation to the error fault E8? If so, what would be the next thing to look at.
Ta.

thank you , will take a look at the heating element first.. not quite sure what a tachometric dynamo is, sounds like something from Back to the Future !

Thanks for suggestion r600a. What should the resistance reading be for a new one? The existing is about 8.4k ohms
Thanks.Reubenw

Well the thermal fuse arrived and I fitted and tested. Seemed to work during day and cycle between -22 and -16, but affected by people opening fridge regularly i suspect. overnight it went down to -28 again and tripped out.
Any other suggestions?

OK will change, and let you know how it goes! Thank-you!

Thanks for reply Bob. I’ve slightly misled you unintentionally. The fuse is OK, it has zero ohms reading. The heater about 8.4 k ohms. Any other suggestions, or bits to measure! Would be appreciated since the kids are now moaning their lollies have all been thrown out! Ta!
