Sorry Saz but I retired 30 months ago, but I can assure you that when I worked for Hisense their employment record stood up to all the European regulations.

I have tried posting a full reply but I keep being logged off, so just a quick reply.

Hi Bryan – It is a long time since we last spoke.

Iadom – I will come clean, I work for Hisense UK.

Martin – I cannot comment about Australia as I do not have their data. I can say that most of their models are based on the old Frigidaire appliances, made to a price that is often dictated by the retailers.

Niggle – Hisense Australia have not cut and run and Hisense UK are here for the long term.

With regards to the quality of the UK products, I guess, only time will tell. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to have my say. I will leave it at that.

The simple answer to you Richard is that little has changed in the two years since UKW summarised the position in the marketplace of Hisense products. And giving a simple reply to the OP was, I felt, sufficient incentive for the OP to investigate further. As my leaning is toward the servicing of these products I always ask myself “…what happens if it goes wrong?” a question all potential purchasers should ask. JTM appear to be the only players in the after sales of these products and I for one would question their nationwide effectiveness at this task?. A caution for any potential purchaser to consider don’t you think?

Thank you for your reply. I cannot agree with your comment that little has changed. Two years ago Hisense did not have any appliances on the market, where as now there is a good range of quality refrigeration appliances. Within the next few months there will be washers, TVs and mobile phones. So I suggest that Hisense’s position in the market place has changed a quite a lot.
I can understand your reservations regarding JTM, I presume this is because of the poor press they have received on UKW forums, and they are often criticized because of parts availability. This is not the case with Hisense as the parts are ordered by Hisense and a broad spectrum of parts are held in the UK. If you are questioning the capabilities of the engineers, remember you may be talking about UKW members.
I do question the ethics of condemning a brand, with little explanation as to why, as per your initial post, when you do not have accessibility to all the facts. Especially regarding the quality of the products, the failure rates and the service KPI’s.
I accept that you are entitled to your opinion, as we all are, but I respectfully ask that you consider your replies before making all consuming defamatory remarks. It is not my intention to criticize you, in any way, as I have said you have a right to your opinion, but I would ask that a short explanation of the reason for your comments would only be fair to any particular brand, and to the OP.
Please accept my comments with the good grace in which they have been made.

    Hi Martin,

Why have you made the comment “Hisense = no sense”? What do you know of these products? What experience do you have of these products? Is it just a prejudice you have against Chinese appliances?

I apologies for so many questions but I do not know if there is any foundation for your comment.

    Re: Fridgemaster Fridge freezer

The switch should only be in the On position if the appliance is being kept in a room where the ambient temperature is below 5C. In normal operation, especially during the summer months, the switch should be Off. It is more than likely that it will never need to be switched on.

When the thermostat is on 7 do you get an even frost layer on the rear wall of the fridge? If you do it is possibly a thermostat fault. If not then there could be system fault.

Can you supply a model number? I do not know of a recent Fridgemaster model that has an On/Off switch.

    Re: Old hoover junior

I was going to post about the good old days when we serviced these cleaners for £1.17s.6d + parts, but it makes me sound like and old duffer. I think I have just proved that this must be what I am as I have fond memories of this model, 119, and the later 1224. After everything had been cleaned, and the bearings greased, they sounded so sweet.

The one in the picture is obviously a recon as the bag, cable, rear wheels, furniture guard and front cover badge have all been replaced with pattern parts. I think it has also had a paint job as the metal body was originaly a bronze colour, not gold, unless the colours in the pictures are not reproduced correctly.

    Oh happy days.
    Richard
