    Re: Telescopic Rack Runner Grease/Lubricant

    Thanks….

    I’m a bit confused now, I came to your forum to ask for some help as I assumed what seems to be correctly that you guys are experts of sorts in these things.

    My first post asked if anyone could recommend a lubricant for the telescopic runners.

    I got two replies, one quoting the instruction manual and saying don’t lubricate the runners (I have the manual and can read), even after I explained that the grease had been incinerated by accident, then another reply to say there isn’t a grease for such a purpose and that buying new runners at £75 a pair was the expensive mistake I had made.

    I reply with two other companies that can in fact supply exactly the correct grease, including the actual manufacturer, AEG, and you then suddenly start saying I know better and that actually this company suddenly does happen to sell it and its description as below is exactly what I was looking for:

    “High temperature silicon based lubricant or grease for use on oven racks and telescopic arms

    All i can say is WHAT…. Were you trying a sales pitch on me for new runners even when I said in my original post that I had seen a tube of grease on another site, but wasn’t 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure if it was the right stuff.

    I came here for help and some expert advice. You say you can only tell me what the manufacturer says and what you have experienced…. Since you were able to track the product down in minutes, when I couldn’t find it on your site after searching for 10 minutes I am assuming you all ready knew about the product and knew exactly where to find it on the site, probably as you’ve experienced this problem in the past.

    Had you just put up the link in the first instance, I would have now placed an order for a couple of tubes or so and you would have had a grateful customer, but you didn’t!!

    You know what, I ordered up the Miele grease at £16 a tube from another supplier and it’ll be here tomorrow. Your site might be selling it at £6-7 a tube less but I’m glad I spent my cash elsewhere as I expect to go to a forum for impartial and expert help, I don’t expect to go to it and get a sales pitch for over priced parts I don’t need and attitude from you as with your comment “You must know better”. I do bloody know better, I’ve been a mechanical engineer for 20+ years and I have the rails sat here in front of me, all I wanted was a lubricant for the rails, unfortunately the lubrications I use on bearings etc do not stand up the prolonged temperatures of the oven, I have tried a grease with 1100C properties, but it’s for flash rises in temperature and rapid cooling after the event, in an oven it smokes a lot, hence I hoped someone here would give me a clear answer rather than posting pages from the instruction manual.

    This is what’s the matter with people like you, you’re too interested in selling bits rather than taking the time to fix anything nowadays as you live in a throw-away world and don’t give a S**t what it costs the customer.

    Please feel free to delete my account as I will not be coming back here after this experience.

    I’d thank you for your help, but you didn’t help in the slightest, you just pi***d me off and covered your backs by posting a link to your product so other potential customers reading the post don’t disappear off your site to a competitor in the future.

    Thanks for the replies.

    @kwatt
    , the runners haven’t warped and the bearings and housings are still perfectly in tact. With a little grease they run perfectly, just need the right grease which doesn’t smoke while the oven is running, which;

    There is actually a grease available just for this job which I’ve found while waiting for replies here.

    Either of these will do the job:

    @UKWHITEGOODS
    , you may want to look in to stocking these products as I am sure I am not the only person who has forgotten to remove the sliders before cleaning, or put them through a dishwasher.

    Bit expensive at £16 for 6g, but its a hell of a lot cheaper than kwatts idea of spending £225 of 3 new sets of sliders and they reckon that one tube will do 5 to 6 applications per pair of sliders, so should do all 3 sets of mine twice hopefully.

    Hope this helps anyone with this problem in the future.

    Thanks
