    Thanks for the advice.ASD services did not have the part-no surprise there.But at least I’ve received confirmation that as I suspected were I able to replace the timer I’d possibly get more years service out of this machine than its modern replacement.

    The Timer consists of two columns of segmented discs.The main column,which assigns power to the various elements of the selscted programme is fine.The problem is with the secondary array which performs the function of reversing motor rotation and,when needed,switches in the demand for spin.The selection mechanism is worn and intermittently fails.It is probably more than 20 years old and very tired.I can overcome the mis-selection manually by advancing the appropriate cam but would prefer to replace the timer.
