Re: Which machine is the best out of these two ?

    hi Guys,

Thanks for trying to help me !!!

I think the ID name with hotpoint in it is a bit of a give away eh ?

I shall just ignore this poster who obviously has an agenda that is NOT my best interest.

Also, his NOT reading my post thoroughly was a put off to begin with.

OK I can not find the model number on the Hoover ( if it is a label across the top of the opening then it has been peeled of) but would we agree that the Bosch is a better make then the Hoover ?

    Thanks again

Re: Which machine is the best out of these two ?

    hi Martin,

sorry .. I will get the model number.. when I figure out where it is.

Actually I have 3, the Bosch that was having the sump pump problem is still running strong as long as I don’t do more then 3 washes a day.

So I was trying to decide which 2 to keep and will rehome the 3rd.

The 3rd is the Bosch WFF2001

So now I have THREE to get opinions on ;-/

I will be back with the model number of the hoover.

    Thanks as always

    hi Penguin,

Yes I meant to email on Tues to say thank you for the help.. then I got really busy and I decided I wanted to wait until I sorted the Electra out to thank you and everyone else at the same time ! But that has taken longer than I expected.

apologies… and again THANKS to you and UKW shop@ for despatching the parts so quickly so I could get drying again !

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

Another question about the dryer please !

FIRST thank you very much for the help and the speedy dispatch of the stats.

Hubby replaced them and it works now.

    Next problem 🙁

The dryer is making our clothes smell like dog.. yuck is what I have to say. We don’t have one by the way.

All I can think of is dog hairs are somewhere in the machine. We have cleaned it the best we can ie hoovering out where we can get to while it was apart .. but it still smells.

    Any suggestions ?

Next problem.. hopefully the last 🙂

There is water appearing under the machine. We have never had a condenser dryer and we don’t have a manual for this one.

There is a very little amount of water in the collection thingy and yes it is pushed in as far as it will go.

    Any ideas about this ?

    thanks again !

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

    Hi,

I was actually going to send a question to UKW to see if a ISE dryer was on the cards.. GOOD IDEA to have the lock on the door so that it can’t be opened until a certain amount of time is run on the cool down.

Although – we have never had a dryer stat blow and I was constantly opening the door to check.. never knew about needing the cool down period. NOW I KNOW !

Although this dryer was given to us in the non working condition.. I am guessing that is how it got blown

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

    oh THANK YOU !

so with my very limited knowledge because the stat is blown there is not long a complete circuit going around through the both stats and the heating element. This not a full circuit.

I am ordering my stuff now..

    Thanks !

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

OK I was wrong 🙁 That wasn’t my last question.

having cleaned it thoroughly and reassembled ..we just tried the dryer to make sure it sounded ok and was turning etc before putting the parts order in for the stats.

So, the box that collects the water is definitely in properly and the full light indicator is not going off. We waited a few seconds before turning the machine off to see if the light would go out. It didn’t.

Does the sensor need to be replaced ? or does it take a bit longer than a few seconds to make it go out ?

If it does need replacing and we are told it is difficult to replace, I am sure I can do without it as long as I mark on my calendar to check it weekly.

    Thanks AGAIN

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

    Iadom,

ha ha yes I did read that the first time you posted it 🙂

I am just making sure as I don’t want to get the stats and then find out it is something else also.

I have pulled out the aluminum condenser thing to clean it off and there is oil and lint all on the inside of where the condenser until goes. I am trying to clean that out the best I can.

I can only imagine the previous owners used LOTS and LOTS of fat to cook with ( like chips 3 x a day) and the dryer was sucking all this in… YUCK.

I knew the outside had cooking fat on it and I cleaned that off pretty easily then I pulled out the condenser unit and was a bit taken aback.

Oh and cleaning the lint filter was not a priorty that is for sure – not surprised the stats blew.. I am surprised there wasn’t a fire !

    Any comment ?

    Thanks

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

ok, thank you for answering politely.. 🙂

My main concern is buying a part and then the machine still doesn’t work as I am DESPERATE for the dryer to be working… lot of soaking wet night pants for toddlers that need to be washed and dried !

    Thank you very much

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

I just had a thought. Since this was given to us and I can only go by what the person said was wrong ie.. drum was turning but no heat was the only problem, I just wanted to ask one last thing.

I am not asking you to dish another engineer I just need to MAKE sure that we haven’t missed anything. After all the engineer that tested the machine at the other person’s house said it was the ‘heating matrix’ that needing replacing at £30.

I do trust people here as you have helped us before, it just is an unknown machine to us and I am trying to figure out why the engineer would have said it was the matrix when it obviously tests as the stats being blown.

comments would be appreciated – mainly have we possibly missed something , or did something incorrectly ?

    Thanks, promise last question !

    Testing results

    Thermostats…

Cut out thermostat is open circuit and we think that means it is blown – is that right ?

The other therm is 0amps which means it is ok, but I know that they need to be bought in a pair. so just stating what hubby found.

Heating element – it is showing resistance values on all 4 coils.. each being about 20 ohms.

So our deduction is we need a set of stats and the element is OK //

Please let me know if that is right ?

    thank yo u

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

ok Hubby is back from work and pulling the machine out of the garage.

Can you all help us save time and briefly or send a link to a picture, what the thermostats look like and where they are located ? AND Where is the heating element he needs to test.

He deals with building electronic equipment for airplane engines 🙂 not appliances. Would probably figure it out.. just trying to save some time as we haven’t even seen the inside of themachine yet.

    thanks

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

    hi

thank you for the responses so far.

Can I just ask what is the heater matrix that the engineer spoke of – is that the heating element ?

If it is turning but just isn’t heating up apparently (haven’t tried it yet) does that mean it can only be heating element or the thermostat ?

Hubby will check those 2 after tomorrow.

    Thank you

    Sarah
