ParticipantQuick update on this, removed all the sound deadening material and replaced with copious amounts of silicon sealant. Leak sorted so far, so good!

ParticipantHave removed all the mastic/sound deadening material. Ran the dishwasher and the leak is now coming from the sump. I’ve just replaced it (had to to buy a new seal). Is there a specific torque for the sump bolts I may have missed, or a procedure I have overlooked when replacing it?

Participantelectrofix wrote:well there is no reason why you cant take off the sound deadening material and take it off a bit at a time till you find the leak. then it can be plugged from underneath
Dave
Might well have a go at that later!

Participantkaibart wrote:The pictures you have posted and the area where you are saying its leaking i have to agree with dave I think there’s a crack in the stainless steel tub as if it was overfilling it would more likely leak from the flange where the door opens and closes
Where is it most likely to crack would you think? I’ll have a thorough look again.

ParticipantI’m glad I’m not going mad, it’s a strange one isn’t it. I can’t see any obvious cracks/issues with the tub. There’s nowhere obvious where it looks like it could be leaking from The overfilling makes the most sense.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Is there a way of testing this in anyway?

ParticipantAny way of testing this valve?

Doesn’t appear to be but your theory makes sense. Would anything else cause overfilling? Water valve appears to shut off.

ParticipantTo be fair it’s running sweet now but my OCD means the inconsistency with those labels is playing on my mind!
Happy new year to all by the way, let’s all hope 2021 is soon Covid free and prosperous for all!

Your Hotpoint has a five year parts guarantee, you pay their labour about £110 IIRC and they would have left you with a fully working machine by throwing all the parts required at it.
Don
My understanding was it was a £110 call out fee then labour charged depending on the job. Am I wrong?

but if the drum looks straight then it shoul be okDave
I’ve copied exactly as it was setup previously but it just seemed inconsistent in my mind.
