ParticipantRe: Samsung RS21KGRS Fridge Fan Icing Up
Well thanks for the benefit of your wisdom!! For my part just trying to share what I’ve been told by an Engineer who was fixing an expensive purchase under warranty. And true, I know very little about the technicalities. As a consumer I have to take at face value what the ‘experts’ tell me and I thought I’d share.
Under the Sale of Goods act in the UK the consumer has rights extending 6 years following a purchase of goods or services – irrespective of any ‘guarantees’….instead of accepting Companies like Samsung hiding behind their ‘warranties to cover up known design faults which render their products unsuitable for purpose, more consumers should seek recourse through the courts. Instead of trying to fix these machines themselves which in itself would compromise their case.scudder

Hi, Tho not the same model as yours, just thouht I’d add to this thread by saying I have a samsung rs21dgrs model which has failed after 9 months. The failure seems to be a very common one with Samsung RS range so this might help.
The engineer who came to fix it tells me that he has personally fixed 70 of this model over the past year with the same fault which is a design fault known to samsung.
The problem appears to be a mechanical one in that there is insufficient contact between heat transmitting parts in the rear panel which was intended to prevent ice build up behind the internal rear panel. Ice builds up and eventually impedes the fan which in turn fails. They have introduced a modification to fix……however 7 days after a new fan unit was put in with this bodge our unit has started to make the same fan noise again. Not sure what will be their next move but Having read the huge number of similar experiences on this and other forums I’ll be pressing for an exchange not another ‘fix’! -
