so found out that the plastic fitting was polypipe and its not unmountable for reuse (could try with unclipping each steel teeth etc), i was able to unscrew the polypipe fitting. cut off the pipe like you said as the clipping wouldn’t come off, added the mentioned compression fitting. its currently fitted and mains and no leaks.

items bought: compression valve, pipe slicer 6-16mm, one spanner

bloopers: left the tap at on and turned the mains on …small flood. planning to run an air heater to dry the area

still not fitted the dishwasher yet as its wet under worktop, will come back and comment once i got that up and running.

you mean the hep20 valve? it connects to copper pipe
