Well, we have done it following the help generously given here.
The hose was just pushed into the wall vent, and we found a plastic bag left inside it 😯
We didn’t buy from Currys, but the chain of independents beginning with ‘E’. There is a branch down the road and we have bought all of our big appliances there for years. I am disabled and have more problems than usual at present, so couldn’t walk down there and my husband couldn’t take time off work. We bought direct from the website because of the current wet weather and proximity to Christmas. Lesson learned is not to do that again 🙁 I am going to send them some feedback once I have decided how to word it.

Thank you, both.
We have solid brick walls, and the vent, which was installed by a professional, is directly opposite the dryer outlet, so that should be OK.
I think that between you I have the confidence for us to tackle cutting the concertina hose now. Thanks again.

Thanks.
I cannot look at the duct until my husband is here and we can move the dryer between us, so I have no idea of the fittings at either end. Please could you suggest which end we cut and explain what we would do about reattaching the fittings?
Presumably some of the duct will have to be ‘concertinaed’ because of the access issues(a cupboard on the left, and an end panel on the right)? Just not the 2m that it is now.
