Thanks for your response. Yes, we have tried a cold wash and it does the same thing. Any more help gratefully received.

When set to any regular wash programme the machine appears to start as normal (flashing red start button indicator, that turns solid red when button is pressed to start the cycle). If the drum is empty (no water), the machine fills, then agitates for about 5 mins before stopping with no other indications (no noises, error lights, smoke etc). If the machine is restarted with the drum full of water, it does not attempt fill again, but agiates for 5 mins before stopping with no other indications. On manually draining, the water appears to be warm.
None of the other programs, such as rinse, work. The start button indicator is either on or off (not flashing), and pressing start has no effect.
The following have been tested: hot and cold feed solenoid valves; waste pump motor (was also replaced 12 months ago); continuity of wiring to mainboard; mainboard relays; visual inspection of connectors and wires – no corrosion or chafing.
Interestingly, have *not* tested the heating element yet, as was stumped by the bundle of wires running from mainboard to the back of drum. Any guidance on testing this would be warmly welcomed!
Appreciate that the machine is very long in the tooth, but financially constrained for the next few months, so need to eke out a few more washes with the old-timer if possible…
Many thanks.
