Anyway, I called Whirlpool and after much kerfuffle a very good engineer arrived and discovered that a rivet inside the dishwasher was sheared off (result of being a former shop demo dishwasher). When the dishwasher was engaged, it would spray water thru the rivet hole and eventually weep out at the back of the appliance. Because the unit was situated inbetween kitchen units, we couldn`t see any water leaks.
Due to the drop in water level, we had the F8 or FA errors.
As a result, the dishwasher has been replaced (thanks Whirlpool) and a special thanks to the Engineer who discovered the fault.
