The fault cleared after I found a bit of food on the seal of the door. I`m guessing that F5 is door/latch related.

    Thanks for the advice chaps!
Anyway, I called Whirlpool and after much kerfuffle a very good engineer arrived and discovered that a rivet inside the dishwasher was sheared off (result of being a former shop demo dishwasher). When the dishwasher was engaged, it would spray water thru the rivet hole and eventually weep out at the back of the appliance. Because the unit was situated inbetween kitchen units, we couldn`t see any water leaks.
Due to the drop in water level, we had the F8 or FA errors.
As a result, the dishwasher has been replaced (thanks Whirlpool) and a special thanks to the Engineer who discovered the fault.
    😀

Thanks for the reply, when you say the fault could be water level related… Is that a problem if the front of the dishwasher is slightly raised higher than the rear (uneven floor)? – I`ve had to adjust the front feet to stabilise the dishwasher as it rocked a little when the tray is loaded.
