Just to let everyone know in the end I couldn’t fix it (The coiled tested okay) and so bought a reconditioned.

Ps.
Is the broken tacho something I probably did when replacing the brushes?
I have a multimeter.

Ok. Thanks for the replies K and applianceman.
So how do I test the coil/tacho and what should I do?
I’ve seen the complete motors are not much less than a new machine.
