I just had a similar problem. If you feel confident check the pcb, on mine it was a dodgy jointon the relays, a bit of solder later and no probs so it might be fixable… good luck!

Thanks a lot for the help penguin, checked the pcb and there was a slightly dodgy joint on the relay, just where you said…. a few bits of solder later the washing machine appears to be working perfectly….hoping it lasts 😀

(comm was cleaned before putting on brushes but thanks for the tip there too)
