Heating is absolutely fine. I had suspected an inlet solenoid at one stage but that has been disproved.

Machine is currently out of the kitchen, (unplugged!) with door stripped down. As I said, I do judge myself at least marginally competent…

The initially intermittent and increasing nature of the fault is the reason for suspecting wiring and with the number of times the door has been opened and closed the passage across the hinge must be suspect?
