Re: Neff V4380 not washing or drying

    This is resolved now.

You were right Penguin45 the brushes had worn. Your fellow moderator iadom who happens to be the nearest engineer to me came round on Saturday morning and identified as much. However he also showed me that part of the motor was worn which meant that if just the brush plate was replaced the same fault would occur again and he advised that I should either have the whole motor replaced or consider getting a new machine.

As its a decent machine and I didn’t want the hassle of getting a new one I decided to go ahead with the £225 repair which is obviously costly but reasonable considering the cost of the new motor.

So thanks Penguin for the advice on here and thanks particularly iadom for coming out on Saturday, talking me through the details of the fault, showing me why I shouldn’t just have the brush plate replaced and doing the repair so promptly once the new motor arrived. The machine is obviously working fine now.

I’m glad I didn’t do a DIY job and just replace the brush plate as in a few weeks or months I might have been in exactly the same position.

Cheers for the response Penguin45. I lost interest in doing the job myself when you said ‘you will need to remove and strip the motor and replace the “brush plate”‘ – sounds too complicated for me. I’ve asked one of your engineers in the area (who I’ve just noticed is also a moderator for a quote).

    Thanks

    Steve

    Hi Penguin45

I tried putting it on the spin cycle and it made the usual noises, the water drained away but the drum didn’t turn.

The full model number is V4380X0GB/13 FD 8209 400932.

    Cheers

    Steve.

    Re: NEFF U1721 oven element

Finally replaced our faulty element today. Such a straightforward job if the fan wasn’t so difficult to get off just to get at that one hidden screw. Needed an hour of WD40 and brute force.

Thanks for the assistance queeg and Penguin45.

    Re: NEFF U1721 oven element

    Cheers for the update queeg.

My wife’s reaction to me saying I was going to do it myself was “I don’t think its wise you doing anything electrical” so I may be calling someone out. 😳

Edit: But I’ve ordered the part anyway and will have a go when it arrives with the whole electrics to the house switched off.

Further edit: My wife is getting very worried now and has suggested Howard (the caretaker from the school she works at does it) cos he’s quite handy. We’ll I’ll show handy Howard. 😉

    Re: NEFF U1721 oven element

Coincidentally I’ve just come on here to post exactly the same problem on exactly the same model (Neff U1721) and saw your post queeg.

Would appreciate any tips if you do decide to go ahead and replace the element yourself. I’ll probably have a go at doing ours next weekend assuming I get a replacement element by then.

Probably worth looking at this thread as well…

    Re: Problem with Tecnik Dishwasher

Wasn’t brave enough to open the thing up, and didn’t have the tool anyway, but thought that if you were right and just supposin on the fateful night I had opened the dishwasher mid-wash, and some water had spilled out 😳 , that a spell of evaporation might cure it.

So everyday since, I have pressed the button morning and night and it has disappointingly come on straightaway – so flood protection still working. But tonight joy of joys it didn’t come on so I hurriedly loaded it up, pressed the button, closed the door and ha ha it worked. The usually annoying bleep of it having finished was music to our ears.

So thanks for the advice Penguin45 and I didn’t deliberately withhold the info about opening it up mid-wash, I actually only thought about it when you mentioned flooding. 😆

A spell of washing the dishes by hand has made us all appreciate our dishwasher…but I still can’t find a model number. 😀
