Re: Ariston Margherita 2000- How do i isolate this fault

Thanks for the reply Iadom and Penguin

Enginner did’nt do a test on the heater, he just said it sounded noisy ?

Question is…board sounds pricey £90/£100.00, is there anyway to test it so the fault can be isolated to this.

If all else fails can the board be reconditioned or can i pick up a second hand unit…..is this false economy ?…..

    cheers fellas

Re: Ariston Margherita 2000- How do i isolate this fault

    Evening Folks

I’m tearing my hair out with this Flaming machine, i called out an engineer on friday. As mentioned in my last post, he found a small leak between the heater casing and condenser box which was dripping above the PCB he put some sealent around the join and said to leave it for 24hrs and then try it and he would come back Monday. Saturday morning i tried the machine and the dial did its usual trick!!!!!

Today the engineer came back had a fiddle around, he filled it put it on a spin cycle, it emptied and the he selected a program and it worked?

I explained this usually happened once it had washed and emptied it would work all day long program after program, unless it was left any length of time between washes. He said this was a coincedence and if it was anything serious like a shot board the problem would be there constantly. He also said the heater sounded noisy/hissy like a kettle was his words and perhaps there was a problem there?.

When he went i did a couple of washes fine…… this evening i’ve tried and the dial is spinning like a merry go round!!!! unless i choose wash eight then it’s works.

can anybody explain the following :-

    1. Why wash eight (half hour wash) works every time
    2. Once wash eight has finished i can select another program and it will work happily.
    3. Once wash eight has finished if i leave it any length of time it will not work on another program setting… 1 through to 7 will not work
    4. If the board is damaged/Knackered with water splashes would’nt the fault be constant ?

Before the dial spins the machine fills, on top of the dryer heater casing there is a relay/switch, engineer said it was a cooling fan ? …. this activates and almost sounds like a buzzer going off and when it does machine tries to empty and dial spins.

sorry foks about the essay …….help !!!!!!!!!!

    cheers

    Thanks Jim

If Nothing is blown on the board, do you think cureing the leak will remedy the problem, or is a new board iminent, engineer said £90.00/£100.00 for the board …. Fair Price ???

    cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Update…

Engineer came today, quick check revealed a small leak between the dryer heater element casing and the condendser (i think) seems to be dripping onto the PCB

Engineer said this may be causing the fault, hes put some sealent on the join told me to leave it 24hrs and to try it.

    charge £25.00

H’es going to call back monday to see if its working, if not he’s going to remove the PCB to check for damage.

    sound plausable ?

    cheers

    thanks for the replys guy

quick scan of the forum shows :-

Technically, it means that the heater relay on the computer board is not reponding. It can also be the heater, temperature circuit, dodgy wiring or any combination of these.

What the worst case scenario cost wise, do i need an engineer or can i source the parts and fix myself.

    cheers !!!!

    Re: Margherita 2000 AWD 12 S

    Thanks Jim

I’ll pull it apart and check the pipes, the pump is working as it can be heard spinning, however how can i determine if it is working properly.

What i can’t work out is if i choose wash 1 for example, the dial spins.

if i choose wash 8 (half hour wash) it works, if i then try wash 1 straight afterwards it will then work.???

    cheers
