Thanks guys. Yes it is the half moon job with the bolt on the top bracket concealed behind the rotor. Crazy design – if you’re going to have a hidden fixing then at least leave slots in the rotor for access – as long as the slots were evenly distributed it wouldn’t unbalance the rotor. Unfortunately none of the pullers that I have (which are a fine collection, my first having been acquired many years ago to strip the clutch on my Norton Commando) will fit so it’ll have to be wiggling, although I couldn’t budge it that way to begin with.
By loosening the fan do you mean actually slackening the motor moutnings in the back of the oven?
To be honest I always isolate the oven for any work on it at all – too many jolts in there to take a chance with!
