    Re: B724SS-A Baumatic Double Oven

    Hi All,

I’ve got exactly the same problem with out Baumatic B724SS-A:

    * Top oven/grill work fine
    * Bottom oven doesnn’t work – no fan, no light and the control panel has no lights etc displayed.

I replaced the element with no affect.

I wondered if the OP has found a solution before I bin it 🙁

    Thanks,
    Stu

    Re: Baumatic B720SS overheating

    Hi All,

Much as this is painful to do, for the benefit of anyone else that has this problem, I thought I’d post the resolution..

Basically, it was down to brain fade on my part 😳

The three wires were marked up as I unplugged them as fitting the element from the front, I couldn’t see the sheaths around them. When refitting, I’d managed to mix two of the wires round, so had put the neutral on the earth and vice versa.

Once these were swapped around, no further problems.

An £88 call out later, that was an expensive error on my part.

    Cheers,
    Stu

Spoke to Baumatic. 2.5K is definately ok.

We’re still covered under parts warranty, so will get an engineer out.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,
    Stu

Many thanks – the fan is operting, but as to whether or not it is effective enough, maybe not I guess.

Baumatic have confirmed the 2.5K element is ok, and have a new ‘stat in stock.

    Thanks,
    Stu

    Re: Baumatic B720SS overheating

A quick update for you. I wrote to Baumatic with the following:

StuMo wrote:Our element in our Baumatic B720SS lower (fan) oven has failed. I am trying to source a replacement. I have been told that the 2 turn 1500W element that was originally installed has been superceded by a 2500W 3 turn element. Is this true? We had the new 2500W element installed and no the thermostat seems to be failing – and the oven heats up until the safety cut off kicks in.

    They replied very quickly with:

Baumatic wrote:The 3 ring element is the direct replacement for the old 2 turn style, they
were replaced a few years ago across the Baumatic range as they were found
to be more efficient than the 2 turns previously used.

I hope this information is useful

So, I have now asked them to clarify on the wattage….

    Cheers,
    Stu

spimps wrote:I checked this part too and have the same answer as 01269.
The capacity of the fan would have been designed for 1500watts and not 2500,may be cutting out on the overheat safety stat which should be situated on the rear wall of the oven cavity.
Would check with Baumatic UK for a definitive answer.

    Thanks. That does make sense.

That said – would a 2500W element do anything other than heat up faster, and if that’s the case, why would the thermostat not continue to work in the normal way?

    Thanks,
    Stu

Specialist01269 wrote:Hi: It could well be that your Thermostat has now failed as well, but what concerns me is the Element, I have NEVER in 19 years in the trade known a Manufacturer to increase an Elements wattage in an appliance by 1000 watts. It is more likely that you have been supplied with the wrong element for your Model, having said this I have checked 6 different sites & not 1 lists a 1500watt element for your cooker. Did you give your supplier the full Model number & Serial Number when ordering? Please do not use the oven until this is sorted out.
If you are in any doubt Please call an Engineer. You could also check with Baumatic themselves.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF BEFORE OPENING YOUR APPLIANCE.

    Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I did do a lot of research on various sites prior to purchasing and could not find a 1500W element anywhere. I asked the supplier this question specifically and their reply was that “Baumatic now recommend a 2500W element for this appliance, which has superceded the original spec 1500W one”. I did find this a little strange. I have now contacted Baumatic.

Whilst trying to source a thermostat, another supplier said “unfortunately, Baumatic have said that this is now obsolete and thus the part is not available”. If that is true then it is very disappointing from a customer service point of view, and the last Baumatic appliance we buy!

The oven is off and will remain so until sorted.

    Cheers,
    Stu
