Re: Second hand oven, earth in the cable is black – confused

You may have a copper conductor which may be badly oxidised!
Try scraping the conductor to see if the black can be removed
Oxidised cables rarely conduct so clean the cable back to bare copper (or silver if tinned) and recheck for earth continuity.
If you still cannot get continuity, Call a professional !!!!
Don’t mess with it as an earth fault CAN KILL !!!!!!
Follow this golden rule !!
