Re: Bosch 1400 Exxcel WFO2865 – not spinning on wash cycle?

After doing a bit of digging, I’m not certain (yet) that the element is working.

I took the front off and disconnected all the cables, tested it with my meter and it reads about 33 ohms (which I believe to be about right).

But, on a 90 degree wash, after stopping the cycle at the 15 and 30 minutes stage, then draining (without a rinse), the drum feels cold still – that said I don’t know when exactly the machine is supposed to start getting hot, so that’s a bit trial and error.

I’m loathe to order an element @ £58 only to find it isn’t that, as it’s nearly 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the price of a new machine. We’ve had a good five years or so out of this one, so i don’t want to start just swapping bits here and there until i find the problem.

Anyone have any further thoughts as to how I can narrow it down?

My wife swears that she did a 90 degree wash a few days ago and it felt warm afterwards…

    Hmmm…

Re: WFO2865GB/01 STUCK ON WASH CYCLE

I’d just posted a thread on my simailr (but not exactly the same) problem. Ours basically sometimes doesn’t get to the spin bit of the cycle, but when manually selected it spins fine…

I do wonder though if I have a heater element on it’s way out, the drum does get hot on a 90 degree wash so it hasn’t completely given up yet…

Do you need to take the front off to get to the heater, I think it’s somewhere below the drum?

Sounds like I’ve got a double failure thing going on, our previous machine of the same type hasn’t frozen up in 5 years so I wonder what’s different about this one?

Thanks for that info Penguin, would it be likely that the fan coud be iced up even though there’s no ice in the freezer?

You probably know this but it’s a frost free model, so can it be frozen in the freezer still, but icey around the fan?

When you say “sensor out of range” I take it that you mean “too warm”?

    🙂
