Hi,
That’s the answer i was hoping you weren’t going to give me! At that price that will be the absolute last resort, or i’ll probably just live without it. Thanks for your help anyway, i’ll keep the part number for reference in case i’m feeling flush some day.
I think i’ll just keep hunting ebay for parts, maybe i can get an american to source me a 230V one fairly cheaply.
Thanks again for your help,

Hi kwatt,
Thanks for your reply,
The 12NC number is 8586 172 15010.
Yes it drives me insane when something goes wrong due to one tiny component, and being an electronic engineer i’ll often go to extreme lengths to try and fix things just for the sake of it.
The motor winding is a single spool of wire, so theoretically knowing the wire size and the number of turns it could be rewound. The winding seems to have broken at one end, and doesn’t look like it has overheated. I tried unwinding it onto my drill, intending to wind it all back on again so that i end up with two good ends i could solder back on to, but the wire is so fine and brittle it kept breaking, so i gave up in the end. There must be thousands of turns.
So i need a new motor, any help would be greatly appreciated!
