top to bottom, top lightbeing one, what number light is flashing?

probably a pcb fault, but ts best to be sure

    It is Number 4

About 10 mins ago we put it on a fast spin and just as I went to check your advice, it was number 4 button flashing along with the on off switch. Just outta warranty and just binned the £3 a month extra warrnaty on Labour. Dontcha just lerv it when that happens? 😥

    Cheers for advice

Wpould like to add to the above that the machine had finished its job and the clothes were dryer so why they are flashing? Also, if a PCB went would it not work at all? :rolls:

    Re: Hotpoint RLA84 Dead

pin 3 has brown wire. This also has a piggy back brown attached to it.

Earth to obvious earth metal casing around stat or “B” pin.

Pin 4 has two spade flats and I have connected white wire to the top one i.e if you hold the stat with adjuster knob facing you with thermo tube at the left

pin 6 is just an empty socket

b4 taking old stat off I photographed it to ensure it went back the same way.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

    Re: Hotpoint RLA84 Dead

Just looked at original stat and it does indeed have 4 connection ponts. Mind u I took a photo of it before removal and it only has the two outer ones in use plus the earth. The middle one was not used????

Cheers Mike I will take it back to shop in the morno and see what he says to that. He did give me the old “I have been an enginner for years” and I did tell him what model it was so this is interesting

    Thank You
    to all

    Re: Hotpoint RLA84 Dead

The ice forms on the inside back of fridge and has not done it on such a scale in 4 years. Looks like snow about 1/4 inch hick. Also water in jug is freezing up when stat is on 1. We used to have old sat on no. 3 for 4 years and no freezing

Universal stat is a VARIFIX VC1 as supplied by engineer in shop saying all enginners use em??????
It only as 3 connections. one is obviouse to me an earth :rolls: (I am ex engineer level but not fidges) The back connecetor has live brown on it and the front connector has a white wire. When i say front I mean near stat adjustment knob.

Thanks for taking time to reply. Mucho appriciated 😀

Re: Hotpoint F/F 8596P Fridge not getting cold

Many Thanks but s and update:

After leaving the first post with the freezer woorking but not fridge, I chanced a fridge thermister and ordered one at £12

Then went out for two hours. On my return wify told me that bread and lollipops in Freezer are going limp (I know the feeling luv)
I then read your reply and duly checked other post’s.

Went back to F/F and felt grill at the bottom It is warm and feels like air comiong out.
Then removed all Freezer trays and put F/F on Fast Freeze. Then saw frosty mist coming out the vent at the back.
The freezer temp at this stage was -13 and friegd still on 19c

I also at this stage felt the vent in the top right of fridge and no cold stuff is a coming out

Can I asume that fan is working? and that my thermostat theory was wrong? I dont think its Evaporater stat down as it would show error code in disply would it not?

Comp must be working as misty frosty stuff comiong out and no clicking buzzing noises?

Any further help gratefully appriciated by a keen DIyer

    PS Great site
