Re: Samsung RL33SB Noisy then stopped working

I ran the compressor off a test cord with the overload protection disconnected. I could try changing the relay but from what I’ve read elsewhere it is likely to be a compressor fault. http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … lay+click*

I’d still like the opinion of someone experienced though. I’ve just being following step by step instructions from websites. I don’t actually know anything. Thanks 😀

I’ve found out a little more information. When I switch the fridge freezer on there is a loud click followed by a faint hum coming from the compressor. Then just a few seconds later there is another loud click and the hum stops. This keeps happening over and over if I leave the fridge on. Its click then compressor hum for a fewseconds then click and no hum then click then hum and so on over and over.

I managed to follow instructions on a web page to test the compressor overload protector and it seems to be fine (0 ohms). I also tested the compressor motor which again showed 0 ohms. Between two the left and right terminals and the common terminal I got readings of 15 and 16 whatever that means. I’m a complete novice though and my multimeter is a cheap one so may not be reliable.

The compressor relay is solid state so I couldn’t test it.

I don’t know what the original noise was but maybe it was the fan hitting ice (hopefully and nothing more serious).

When somebody gets a moment I would be very grateful for some advice as to the most likely cause based on your experience. Thank you.

Re: Samsung RL33SB Noisy then stopped working

I found this webpage that helps people that know nothing like myself.
    http://www.repairclinic.com/Refrigerato … leshooting

If I can hear clicks then thats probably the thermostat working. Is this right

Any advice from a professional would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I managed to download a service manual and it helped me to get the panel off at the back of the freezer compartment.

The fan is spinning away with no problems and to the left of the fan is a flap that was turning.
