Re: Bosch Exxcel SGS5362GB – main wash motor fault??

Thanks for your help – when I got it apart I discovered the impeller had failed in the same way as many others have reported on this forum – the backing plate had separated from the fins. Replaced it, and it all works fine again. Hope it lasts!

Re: Bosch Exxcel SGS5362GB – main wash motor fault??

Further to my post earlier, the impellor is definitely no longer attached to the motor. I discovered there is a little clip-on cover on the RHS of the sump and if I put my finger down the pipe I can feel the impellor – which is just flopping about, no longer joined to the motor. Does anybody know if this part is obtainable separately? Assuming it is, instructions on how to remove the motor / impellor from the sump would be useful. It looks like a bayonet type fitting with a couple of plastic tabs to lock it in position but I may be wrong.

    Any help gratefully received.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have taken the RHS panel off, the motor turned fine and no sign of burnt windings or other components. I then powered it up and watched, the motor runs fine, but with the side panel off it sounds like the impellor in the pump is somehow not attached to the motor anymore. There definitely doesn’t seem to be any water flowing round the machine, hence my remark that the arms didn’t seem to be turning in my first post. The motor is going but it doesn’t seem to be doing any pumping! Is there any way of checking further without taking the motor / pump out which doesn’t look easy?

    Thanks for your help.
