Re: Pleas help – Diplomat APL3201 Eelement Problem

Sorry another thing I have just thought when reading your post back – there should only be two leads connecting the oven to the element shouldn’t there, is this right?? There are four connectors, two on one end of the element and two on the other. I have connected up to one on each end??? It was just when you said earth tag??? i’m no electrician so I won’t be trying anything that might frazzle me!!!!! Cheers

The element you should have is this one or the pukka one which is the same thing, different part number.

The reason that it’s tripping is, most likely, either an earth fault with the new element or it’s been stored incorrectly and is damp.

In the case of the former, that happens a lot with the really cheap elements you get on Fleabay etc. and is why we don’t sell them. 😉

It can happen with the best of them but, it’s incredibly rare.

In the case of the latter, you can and I will stress this, IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING, run the element with the earth tag off to dry it out. DO NOT do this if you’re even remotely unsure what you’re about.

I suspect though that the element is faulty from what you’ve said.

Hi thanks for replying – I got the new element from http://www.ransomspares.co.uk They had two elements that would have done the trick so I purchased the more expensive one which is this one http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/products/ … 134425.htm the cheaper one which is this one http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/products/ … 120663.htm I think is the Homark one that you have linked to. I thought I was doing the right thing by going for the more expensive ‘genuine part’!!!!

I have contacted RansomSpares and to be fair they immediatly said they would send out another part. I hope as you say it could just be a faulty part.

I really appreciate your help. Cheers

Hi just to add to this – I have put the old elelement back on and although no heat it does NOT trip the power like the new one. Does anyone think it is a problem with the new part??? Help most welcome and needed as wife is getting annoyed at not having an oven for over a week!!!!!
