Fixed. Resistor blown on motor control board, in the tacho circuit. Bit of a nervous moment trying to decide what value the burnt resistor was, but 10K seems OK, and I’ve just sat down and watched a Rinse & Spin @ 1600 from beginning to end and it seems fine.

Amazing difference now the new bearings are in – its gone from jumbo jet taking off, to whisper quiet 😀

Hmmm. So much for the polarising keys on these Hotpoint plugs. It seems you can quite happily plug in the motor plug upside down.

Now it is the right way up, the motor runs, but, in a Rinse & Spin cycle, it fills, the drum rotates briefly anti clockwise, fills some more, more anti clockwise, then it goes into “fault mode” (I assume) – the display just shows On, the drum empties and it stops.

Anyone any ideas? Should the drum rotate both ways in this program? Is the problem the tacho or the lower control board?

    Cheers

    Tim
