Hello Dave thanks for your help.
I managed to fix it
The noise I was hearing when the washer was in a cycle ,I initially thought was the wash pump motor ,was in fact I think the heater boiling off the water( there was no flow thru the heater to remove the heat).

On removing the dishwasher and putting it on its side
I looked at the cable assembly below the door ( the white protective sleeve was worn)and I noticed the yellow cable was snapped ( yellow cable is one of the two that feeds the wash motor).. connected the two and it works .
I’ve binned the marigolds.
Hope this helps other on where to look if they have dishwasher issues
