    i tried your test but it wasn’t obvious to me if the drum was moving more than the door seal .there seemed to be a tiny amount of play though. i assume thats enough when coupled with the nasty noise symptoms for a diagnosis.

    You would need a new hub assembly (p/no 4812 520 18065) to repair it, as well as heavy duty Torx bits, impact driver and a big hammer.

    i have a hammer but its not very big 😳 lol
    i’l ask good old dad if he can supply the rest

    on scouring this site more i discovered another damning symptom = the rusty markation on the lower part of the ‘spindle’ area

    i’l let you know if i attempt it ( i dare say i’d be back asking for heaps of advice anyway)
    to be honest its more likely i’l either be asking for a quote from a local wg recommended engineer or asking if you think the Zanussi ZWF1421S is a good buy!
