i found a similar problem within this forum. The problem is with the control panel as the locking mechanism appears to be faulty. I have ordered another( £23) one and looking forward to fixing it when it arrived. Thanks for all help.

i will certainly look again. Yesterday, I could not find a serial number. Thanks Nick
