ParticipantNot sure whether to laugh or cry…
Rechecked operations on 24/10 and machine still went into A-5 fault within a couple of minutes of starting a programme. Debated with Mrs wclark1238 whether it was time to write it off and invest in a new machine but in the end we decided to ‘invest’ in a Domestic and General insurance repair. As it’s a very old machine (>10 years) this came in at £25/month for 6 months…bullet bitten I booked the repair visit.
Engineer due to attend on 27/10. When I got home from work on 25/10 after a late shift I thought I’d give the machine another try. Same issue, A-5 after 2 minutes.
Engineer arrived 27/10, pulled machine out from under the counter-top, removed the top cover and started a programme…and the little ba$tard worked as advertised, no errors at all 😮
So, I’m taking credit for the fix:confused: I was the one that changed the blown heater after all. So pi$$ed off to have ‘invested’ £40 in a new heater and then needlessly another £150 in an insurance policy that turned out to be unneeded.
What can you do?
Thanks again for reading and replying.

ParticipantThanks for the input Dave.
Grrrrr! Just removed pressure switch and it switches as expected – audibly can be heard to switch when pressure is applied to tube, also switches from closed circuit to open circuit on the outside 2 (of the 3 contacts) on the switch. I also blew back through the pipe from where it meets the switch into the machine and there was little resistance and bubbling could be heard. All of the above suggests to me that the switch is doing what it should so now I’m really left in head-scratching mode.

Still shows A-1 with float switch removed from circuit…..grrrrrr!

Ok, makes sense as float switch is open circuit during normal operation so disconnecting eliminates it as the problem.
Am aware that these fault codes can be vague in the extreme….is A-1 only relating to leak detection/flood prevention or is there some other tenuous cause that also throws up A-1s?
Thanks again.

I did. Float switch was only disconnected after A-1 reared its head. In any case the plug/socket is ‘keyed’ such that it only goes one way.
Thanks for your time in reading so far.
