    Without a model number, it is difficult. However, with current production, Hotpoint and Indesit freestanding models have plinths with insulation blocking off the two access panels. The plinth would have to be removed to get your hand in.

    Integrated models would have the kitchen units plinth in the front and two blanking covers on the dishwashers. Again, a tool would be needed to remove the covers.

    it’s difficult to comment without a model number but cannot think of any of Hotpoint or Indesit Dishwashers that have exposed connections and they have been checked and they all have a component shield .

    The other worry is has the machine in question been repaired at some point and the covers left off!
