    Thanks for the tip. Here is the latest. I have removed the pump/motor assembly, there was nothing stuck in it. It did rotate with the screwdriver.
    I powered it up on the bench and it worked ok, however when powered up a 2nd time it just hummed and did not rotate, accompanied by a burning smell! I reckon that the motor is knackered! The windings at the bottom are discoloured (copper sulphate blue and black) I suspect that it has been sitting in some water. A check for leaks required and replacement motor. Not cheap! 😥
