    Re: Smeg SUk62MFX Oven

    Thank s for that Penguin45.

I guess we will think about buying a different brand next time. No technical support to customers, no internal diagrams for appliances, very little by way of troubleshooting and very expensive spare parts … what were we thinking when we bought it!

Anyways, at least it looked good when it was working 100 per cent. If the timer is too expensive I reckon we’ll buy one of those little egg ones … i think they cost a couple of quid.

Given that the timer has just gone, can we expect other things to follow or do Smeg appliances ordinarily last quite long (our Smeg dishwasher hasnt fared much better).

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Penguin45 …

… and thanks again for your prompt reply.

I have emailed the attached address asking for a price. I was wondering, are there any companies that sell spares they take from salvaged appliances? I know there are companies that do this for cars but not sure if anyone does this for home appliances.

If there are some, I would be really grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Penguin45

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I replaced the diverter valve and this did not help. I see from your email that determining the cause of the problem is not going to be easy.

In order to try to fix it, can you please advise on what you would do next, after confirming that the problem is not the diverter vale. BTW, what’s the PCB?

Let me just confirm that when the machine does work, water goes into the top and bottom trays and the extent to which things are cleaned is the same regardless of where they are in the machine.

Sometimes, the soap tablet is not fully dissolved and is lying at the cottom fo the machine.

I had thought that the”computer” had gone, hence the it works, it doesnt work, E8 or E5, etc.

Any further help and advice, is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much again for taking time to help us.

    Kind regards

    Hi Penguin

    Thanks for the reply.

The oven was last used two days before we turned it on to find the timer wasn’t working. We had only used the hob on that occasion so not sure why that would have melted anything.

My girlfriend did clean the front glass with Cilit Bang the day before we turned it on so maybe that could have damaged something?

Anyways, do you know whether i can only fit a smeg part or can i use a non proprietary part?

Thanks a lot for all your help.
