The government has taken two crucial decisions to cut unemployment in the Dolny Śląsk region by accepting new investment projects by Wrozamet SA and Volvo Polska SS.
Wrozamet SA, owned by Fagor, a Spanish white goods producer, will open a new factory in the area. Wrozamet will spend zł.131.4 million on the investment. The venture will result in creating 1,000 new jobs within five years. The government will directly support the Wrozamet investment with zł.3.5 million from the budget. Additionally, Wrozamet will be exempt from real-estate tax and corporation income tax, as it is located in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone. Total government subsidies amount to zł.52.6 million.
“We would like to talk about the details only after the contract is signed,” said the spokesperson at Wrozamet, Alicja Barcewicz. According to the procedures, this will happen in two or three weeks’ time.
Volvo Polska SA, plans to open a complex finance, accounting and IT development center. It will invest zł.25.8 million and the center will offer 500 new jobs, exclusively for university graduates aged between 25-34.
Total government support will reach zł.9.7 million. Volvo will also profit from real-estate tax exemption and aid from the district labor office.
These investments will help ease local unemployment, which currently stands at 22.4 percent. This compares to 6.6 percent in Warsaw.
