We’re willing to predict that this new laundry concept by design students for Fagor is most probably going to stay that way, a concept. But it is interesting.
Say Hello (sorry, couldn’t resist it) to the new social laundry concept from Fagor that has been dubbed “Hello”

Somehow, we just can’t see many people being willing to drag their dirty laundry around the streets then pass off their kniclers and whanot to complete strangers.
How it would work is that people who own a Hello hamper use the mobile app to locate someone nearby who owns a Hello washing machine. They then get their rollable tub to a neighbor’s house (or stranger’s home) at an agreed-upon time and drop laundry off to be washed or use the washing machine themselves. The owner of the washer would receive payment for use of the machine through the app.
The designers acknowledge that many may be put off the concept by the idea of washing other people’s dirty knickers or letting strangers into their home, but they reckon our attitudes about sharing are changing. Perhaps for the younger among us, maybe but we very much doubt that older people or people with busy family lives will go for this idea.
“If you imagined a couple of years ago that people would be willing to share their car with total strangers, a lot of people would’ve thought this was really crazy,” cocreator Benjamin Riot told Wired. “But I think a lot of people are accepting the idea that in order to get what you need, you need to be willing to do things slightly differently.”
