Around 250 jobs could go with the closure of Hoover”˜s vacuum cleaner factory near Glasgow, the company said today.
Staff at the company”˜s plant in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, were told of the proposals by managers at a meeting today.
Design and development engineering staff and workers employed in the company”˜s after-sales division would be retained in Scotland but possibly at another site.
The proposals signal closure for the post-war factory which employed 5,000 people at its height during the 1970s.
