UK-based appliance retailer John Lewis has announced it is launching its own range of household electrical products, including washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers.
The company, which has sold branded electrical items since the 1920s, says the decision to sell products under the John Lewis name follows research showing potential demand from customers.
Washing machines in the new range will sell from £299 to £499, while refrigerators and freezers start at £499 and go up to £699.
The range will be available in stores and on the chain’s website — www.johnlewis.com — starting in this summer.
“In developing the range of appliances, we commissioned independent research to ascertain what proportion of customers would buy John Lewis own-brand appliances if they were available,” Vic Sinclair, central buyer for large electrical appliances at John Lewis, said. “The results showed that more than 60 percent would ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ buy from the range, while a further 20 percent or more would ‘consider’ it.” (Scotsman)
