Bosses at Peterborough department store John Lewis have spoken of their delight after the company was named the nation’s favourite retailer.
John Lewis was voted Britain’s best loved retailer in a poll of more than 6,000 shoppers.
The survey ““ published by retail analysts Verdict Research ““ ranks John Lewis, which has a store in Peterborough that employs 800 people, first for customer satisfaction.
Managing director of the Peterborough branch Liz Mihell said: “We are delighted that John Lewis has been voted Britain’s favourite retailer.
“The partners in Peterborough take a great pride in winning such an award, which is voted for by our customers and is great recognition for the team’s hard work.”
Customers were asked to rank high street shops on a number of key criteria, such as range, price, convenience, quality, service, ambience, facilities and layout.
John Lewis increased its overall satisfaction score since last year, and has now been ranked first for service for eight years.
The retailer has also been voted top in the clothing sector.
Peterborough’s fashion adviser Lorraine Roe said: “For customers to vote us top in clothing is real evidence that we are giving them what they want.
“There has been a great deal of improvement in our fashion lines and the assortment of brands we offer over the last few years.”
