Refrigerator producer Merloni Indesit Polska can begin production at its new refrigerator factory in the recently expanded L³dz Special Economic Zone after being granted official permission on December 2.
The decision also means that Merloni could receive state assistance of up to 50 percent of the value of the investment.
“we are delighted that our application was approved,” said Giuseppe Parma, country manager for the firm. “We would like to thank all representatives of the local authorities who have helped us so much along the way.”
Prime Minister Marek Belka and European Commission President Romano Prodi officially opened Merloni’s new cooling plant on October 18 this year. The investment is worth more than 40 million euros, and to date almost 200 jobs have been created. Planned employment is due to reach 900 people by 2007.
