The manufacturers of a new refrigerator claim that it uses less energy than a 100-watt light bulb.

Made completely of steel, the Sub-Zero PRO 48 has two refrigeration compartments, four drawers and weighs around 800 pounds.

It is also equipped with two compressors and three evacuators in order to keep food fresher for longer – technology which is also aimed at keeping the appliance odour-free.

And according to Michael d’Estries of Green Options, the PRO 48 is one of a number of new household appliances which enables owners to combine gadgets and green living.

“More and more kitchen appliances are hitting the market that allow my two sides to co-exist more peacefully,” he said.

Sub-Zero also claims that the model stands up to “rigorous” governmental standards for residential appliances due to its energy usage.
